I'm Learning This Tune Before Christmas

Recently named pianist of the year in the 2025 DownBeat Magazine, Emmet Cohen is one of the most creative pianists of our generation. I'm always amazed by his playing and time feel, especially when he's accompanying singers. In this recording of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, both Emmet and the lovely Georgia Heers showcase the importance of listening to what the other is doing. The tune was composed by Hugh Martin with lyrics by Ralph Blane.

The notes that you see in parentheses ”( )” are either notes I'm not sure were played or some personal additions. The notes you see with 'x' are ghost notes. I might have gone a bit overboard with the frequency of chord symbols 😅. Keep in mind, the music is played freely for most of it. In some instances, the written LH notes are not in sync with the RH notes (ex: m.35-36).
