Back with yet another Wynton Kelly transcription. This time it’s his blazingly fast solo on Sonny Rollins’ composition Oleo. This is from the Miles Davis album “Live at The Blackhawk. https://open.spotify.com/track/5nEY2ybrFqdlMALZTWm820?si=1005183ff85b4da3 It’s actually a fairly “inside” solo with many blues type motifs and of course skilful voice leading. But what makes this solo amazing to me is his ability to stay with and even dictate the rhythm at this ridiculous tempo of 320 something!
